The 5 Fall 2022 Trends I’ll Be Wearing this Season:
1. Utility/Cargo Pants
Cargo pants are already my most worn of everything on this list because they are such a great alternative to jeans and most are lighter weight which has been nice in these hotter months. They are a great transitional/year-round piece to have in your closet. A couple months ago, I grabbed a tan pair and then a black pair shortly after and they are just so comfy-cool. Styling them is so easy, they are incredibly versatile. For daytime, I pair with a cropped tee and sneakers. At night, with some heels and a form-fitting tank top.
2. Chunky Loafers (with/without socks)
I’ve always been a loafers girl and I love chunky/flatform/platform anything so this is a no-brainer for me (but fyi: ballet flats are also getting back into style; so ballet flats girls: hooray for you, too!). I got a pair of black leather lug sole loafers last season but they didn’t get much wear since I was almost never going into the office. But I am looking forward to wearing the heck out of them this fall/winter season!! And the styling choice with socks is really growing in popularity, not surprising since everything traditionally preppy is “in” right now. An ankle height sock is a fun and easy way to make a loafer or sneaker look with an exposed ankle look a lot more put-together.
3. Mini Skirts/Dresses
I mean let me first say… it’s not like minis ever went out of fashion. They are a staple silhouette and will always be stylish. However, they are really having a moment this season. I love them because they are a great way to show off some leg. I’m also much more excited about them this season because I live in LA, so I can wear them basically all year round without having to wear tights/pantyhose under. My favorite way to style the mini this season is with knee high chunky boots and an oversized blazer.
4. Silver Accessories
Silver is really having a moment. I’ve always favored gold, but love a mixed metal moment. I think since the 90s/00s trends are coming back around is where the silver fad comes from. I love wearing both silver and gold rings at the same time, and also layering a silver with a gold chain necklace as well. And silver doesn’t stop with just jewelry, it’s a huge color right now for bags and shoes. I absolutely love my little rhinestone bag from Amazon as a fun flashy accessory, it’s surprisingly versatile.
5. Trousers
I just love menswear-inspired pieces, and trousers are no exception. I especially love the wider leg, full-length styles but the ankle-cropped trouser is adorable too (especially styled with a dad sneaker). My favorite way to style trousers are with sneakers and a tee or sweater vest. They are also super fun if you can get a little set with a matching blazer situation – so chic.
