One style that I’m constantly seeing around the office and the city these days is the cold shoulder top. It’s funny because I’ve actually loved this open shoulder design for quite some time (I had a dress in high school with this detail and also a shimmery top that I wore for almost every NYE in college) and I always wondered why it wasn’t more popular or easier to find more pieces with this unique cut-out. So I’m thrilled it’s finally become more mainstream (I’ve been waiting long enough!!).
I especially love this trend on sweaters, specifically a chunky turtleneck style (like mine). I love the contrast of the super thick, warm, ‘covered-up all the way to the neck’ look paired with the bare shoulder – it feels really unexpected and creates a striking look.

I think this style has become popular on sweaters for many reasons. First is that it’s soooo wearable, and therefore practical (a huge selling point). This is such an easy trend to incorporate into your life, really for anybody. Second, it doesn’t require any extra styling; just style it as you would any other sweater, but find comfort in the fact that you have a certain detail that brings your outfit from ordinary to on-trend. And lastly – because it’s comfy & warm, especially the oversized styles (another pretty obvious selling point for the colder months; except, yes, your shoulders might get a little cold – but hey the rest of your body is fine so it’ll balance itself out).
Like I said before, styling this trend easy. I paired mine with a denim skirt and OTK boots – seriously loving this combo right now (especially with chunky sweaters – the texture combo with denim feels really fresh). If you have a denim skirt ( + bonus points for OTK boots), then I would definitely try out it out. I was inspired by this amazing ensemble by my bestie and fellow blogger Cara from Mirrors & Mimosas.
