Hue of the Month | a Crisp Clean White

I know I know I know – I realize it may appear lazy or unimaginative to choose white but I swear it’s a perfect, and calculated, choice for August.

August is the month where your hair is the lightest, your tan is the deepest, and you are desperately trying to make it last as long as possible because September (and therefore Fall) is just around the corner. I rarely get much of a tan as I am pretty fair-skinned and tend to burn if I’m not careful, BUT I love when people complement their bronzed-tone skin with an all white ensemble. It just screams effortless chic, and it’s definitely one of the easiest looks to put together. Just be aware of the cool or warm tones of the whites/creams and try to put pieces of the same tone together, and you’re good to go. If you really want to up the ante and dress like a total pro, try to choose a piece/or pieces with lots of texture to add more interest to the outfit. Also this is a great outfit to add a pop of color; and whether that be with your lipstick, shoes, handbag, jewelry, or some other accessory, people are going to notice it better than ever.

A forever-favorite white piece is the Little White Dress. The LWD is truly an undisputed staple that can be styled so many ways it’s kind of impossible to cover all of them. My favorite ways are mostly methods of edging up some sweet little white number. In my LWD look, I strategically chose a pair of Aviator sunglasses and super chunky flatform sandals to contrast with the very feminine silhouette of the dress.

I also love a good white, distressed, skinny jean – especially paired with neutral pieces (like tan, blush, or grey). Recently I wore mine with a plain black peplum top and my blush lace up sandals, and it was a really crisp cool ensemble.

As far as beauty goes, lately I’ve been on a white nails kick. I just love it! It truly matches everything and still pops. I prefer the less stark-white colors, I usually reach for Essie’s Marshmallow.
