As far as wearability, red seems pretty intimidating compared to other colors. The payoff is incredible though – you will turn heads walking into a room if you’ve styled a bright red properly. I’ve chosen candy apple red for July’s Hue of the Month because I think summer is one of the best times to make color risks – it’s easier to pull off brighter colors with a tan and I think we are overall more cheery and willing to reach for the brighter hues in our closets when the temperatures rise (however I do looove a good red jacket – perhaps we’ll explore that in the fall).
My absolute favorite (and probably the easiest) way to incorporate this color is through a handbag. I think classic, structured, satchels work best with this color, but I think some crossbody and backpack options are cute as well (watermelon bag below is #todiefor). I’m not the hugest fan on red shoes, but I think a red block heel or mule would be really cute– I’d say stick to suede styles for those.
It’s a bit easier to wear daunting and bright colors farther from the face, and a candy apple red skirt would be divine on just about anyone (shop a super cute Zara option below). Pair it with a neutral top and accessories, and voila! I also love a good easy-breezy pant for this color. Some fun pleated culottes and comfy linen trousers are linked below.

Pairing bright red separates are pretty easy since you’ll probably keep it safe with neutrals – I like chambray or denim the best. For accessories, anything chestnut suede is going to pair unbelievably well. Color blocking can also be really striking – a fuchsia or a lighter pink look really beautiful, however those are tougher to pair. I think a good starter color-blocking color would be an indigo – they complement each other very well.
If you’re daring enough to do this hue head-to-toe, I think a jumpsuit is the way to go. Something about a bright red jumpsuit just screams #girlboss, am I right?! Serious props to you if you are bold enough.
