TFL’s Outerwear Edit is back!

Very few items in your closet get as much use and as much exposure than your coat. Especially living in the city, coats here are just as much a part of the outfit as what’s underneath. Plus a fantastic coat can either A) add extra oomph to an already spectacular outfit or B) make any ol’ outfit (say like jeans and a tee) look more intentional.

Every year there’s usually a few outerwear trends that I really adore (and wish I had one of each!), and I love to share them with you all so you can up your topper game.

Read on for my 2019 Outerwear Edit, featuring the top five outerwear trends/silhouettes of the season!

 

1. Belted Jackets

This is definitely the outerwear silhouette of the season! And hella flattering it is, so YAY! I, for one, looooove me a good belted jacket. Cinching the waist is honestly the easiest way to look more slim, more chic, and helps provide balance to most looks.

 

 

 

2. Trenches

As far as trendy trends go, unique trenches are super “in” this season. Whether it’s super shiny, color-blocked, pattern-heavy, or drowning in hardware, any sort-of “out-there” trench is all over the streets right now.

But I’m also happy to say that the classic trench is also super in style this season. Well… as it always is (haha), but I do think it’s having a moment right now. Neutrals is a huge trend right now, and the classic trench falls right in that category.

 

 

 

3. Punchy Puffers

These are so fun! I snagged this one from Amazon (in black), but it hasn’t quite been cold enough to wear it just yet. The two big categories I’m seeing for puffers this year is metallic and patterned. Shop my faves of both below.

 

 

 

4. Fluffy Coats

Will this trend ever go away? Doubtful. A fluffy texture using outerwear is just too fun and too fabulous, quite frankly. Linking my favorite faux fur / fuzzy options to add a little drama and a lot of glam to any looks of yours this season!

 

 

 

5. Leather

Let’s be honest: leather is always in. But it’s definitely having a moment this season 😎

I’m especially seeing a lot of all-leather looks, which I personally don’t have the commitment for (it’s just never going to be up to my comfy code 🤓). But I’ll take a leather jacket any day! I just grabbed this one from Target and love its oversized 80s vibes.
